Computerized carrousel gas kiln for stoneware with heat exchanger

At Mobach Pottenbakkers bv stoneware ceramics are produced. About 20 persons are employed there.

For the production of stoneware ceramics Mobach had two bell kilns which were up for replacement. Said two kilns have been replaced by one computerized carrousel bell kiln with a flue gas heat exchanger. The project is innovative by reason of:

• its unique carrousel;
• logistics of stacking and unloading of products;
• heat recovery and reuse;
• sophisticated control of kiln and carrousel;
• choice of up-draft instead of down-draft;
• the fact that the flue gas heat exchanger is an integrated part of the kiln.

This resulted into economies both in energy and in labor, whereat both yield and working conditions have been improved.
